Volunteers

Did you know The David Evans Court Theatre is a charity entirely run by volunteers? Between us we have created an extraordinarily active Community Theatre which acts as home to many local theatre groups and attracts professional music groups and comedians.

None of this would be possible without a team of volunteers covering the many disciplines of running a theatre: technical, costume, box office, admin, finance, marketing and our Front of House team of “Courtiers”. People volunteer for many reasons: they love theatre; they want the chance to meet other like minded people; they have spare time they want to use productively; they want to gain practical experience for a possible career in theatre; they want to sound out the many am-dram groups which hire the theatre; and many other reasons.

Many of the roles can be done from home using a laptop and fit around your social, domestic, work and physical commitments.

As in many organisations the Covid crisis has forced some of our team to readdress the time they can commit to volunteering; this has led to a number of “vacancies”. If you are interested in exploring one of these specific roles, then please contact us through volunteers@courttheatre.co.uk. You might feel “I have no experience”, it doesn’t matter, enthusiasm is the key and we can train you!

Technical Support – with a busy programme we are always on the look out for people interested in lights, sound and the hard work of set building.

Media Manager – fancy being our link with the press and radio? The Court has a varied programme which needs communicating.

Social Media Manager – we need someone to take control of our social media and keep Court activities at the front of people’s minds.

Website Manager – you are reading our brand new website, we need someone to keep it up to date and regularly refresh the content.

Box Office Admin – although 90% of our sales are via our website, there are inevitable queries which need sorting out. This would be done from home via the web, and, if it suits, at the theatre when shows are on.

General Admin – particularly if you have skills in finance there are many possible roles.

Front of House – join our team of Courtiers, it’s a great way to meet people, suss out what’s happening with society user groups and get to see a show for free!
